DIY origami skirt

Here is my first post! Ooh, how exciting. So, I'm working on a skirt, and I've decided to share my experience with you.
I really like the origami/asian inspired spring trend:

I've also been inspired by the Zara origami skort. I like the minimalistic hemline, so I'm incorporating that into my own version.

I bought some scrap fabric a while ago. It's only about .75 yards of it, but I loved it so much, so I got it anyway. I don't even know what kind of fabric it is, but it's perfect for a skirt. It's nice and sturdy, but not too thick, and the texture is so lovely!
I've cut out all the shapes so far, and I've started piecing them together. I cut out a waistband, two back panels, and two overlapping front panels that will become the "origami" aspect of the skirt:

Lovely gray fabric!
It's going to be an A-line skirt, and to make the front appear even more atypical, I made the back panels a little longer. I also rounded the corners to contrast with the two pointed corners of the front panels. I've been winging it this whole time, so hopefully this will turn out the way I envision it!
I'll post more as I work on it further.
